Medical cannabis import from Portugal, Canada and third countries
We move bulk goods for importers, wholesalers and pharmacy distributors – flowers and extracts, GDP-compliant from the country of origin to the BfArM-released warehouse.
Countries of origin
Portugal, Canada, Australia, Israel, Uruguay. We know the relevant licensing pathways, HS codes and the CoA, GACP and EU-GMP evidence requirements for each source country.
Bulk flowers & extracts
Large volumes rather than pharmacy packs: dried cannabis flowers in big bags, bulk extracts in canisters and drums, bulk distillate and isolates. Temperature control from +15 to +25 °C, humidity monitoring to protect trichomes.
BfArM import licence
We coordinate customs and BfArM clearance for your shipment: presentation of the import licence, BtM number matching, customs handling and release for onward distribution to licensed recipients.
GMP + GDP chain of custody
Unbroken cold chain and BtM chain of custody from the EU-GMP-certified origin warehouse (e.g. Portugal, Canada) across the border to delivery at the wholesaler or pharmacy pre-warehouse in Germany.
BtMG, GDP and what you need to consider
The transport of medical cannabis is subject to both the German Narcotics Act (BtMG) and pharmaceutical GDP guidelines. We know both worlds.
1BtMG requirements
Cannabis is classified as a controlled narcotic. Transport requires a valid BtM permit (German narcotics permit) for all parties involved, BtM delivery notes in triplicate, tamper-proof sealing and an identity check at every handover. Violations can have criminal consequences.
2GDP requirements
As a medicinal product, medical cannabis is subject to the EU GDP guidelines. This means: qualified means of transport, calibrated temperature sensors, documented SOPs, trained staff and a functioning CAPA system. All processes must be auditable.
3Documentation obligations
The combination of BtMG and GDP creates extensive documentation obligations: temperature logs, BtM delivery notes, handover protocols, GPS records and seal checks must be produced without gaps and archived for at least five years.
Your compliance checklist
- Verify the recipient's BtM permit
- GDP-compliant transport documentation
- Continuous temperature recording
- Sealing and tamper protection
- BtM delivery note in triplicate
- Identity check at handover
- Archiving of all records (min. 5 years)
- Reporting obligations for deviations
TempSecure handles this: We ensure that all transport-relevant items on this checklist are fully met and documented.
